Ugly Sweater Pin

I am sure that I am not the only one with kids who wait until the last minute to tell us they need something the next day. Take for instance this last week before school lets out for Winter brake...All week the school planned for days like, Christmas sock day, pajama day and ugly sweater day...

So we looked at some stores but the sweaters weren't really ugly and at 25.00 and up I didn't think it was worth it, we found some vulgar sweaters not suitable for my girls and then the obnoxious ones were 40.00 and up - so no thank you not for one day of one year....so mom, that's me, decided to find a sweater at the Thrift store my go to spot for DIY projects.

Found this bright green sweater in the women's section and took it home. Then pulled out a bunch of different do-dads I had at home so she could decide how she wanted to put it together.

I was thinking we were going for AN UGLY SWEATER but she had a different idea. She looked on PINTEREST and found one she liked and she designed the reindeer cut it out and I glued all the stuff down, because I was using Hot glue...and here is what she made

Here is the crafty genius in her new sweater...which she wore on Thursday

Her older sister liked it so much she wore it to school today.

Goes to show that a little creativity can go a long way!!!

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Every year I try and come up with some fun new ideas for handmade by ME Christmas ornaments and this year not only did I make my 2015 Snowman ornie is but I came up with some more simple ornies and one I found on Pinterest.

Here is my 2015 snowman ornament - cute right?

These are relatively easy to make and make great gift toppers.

Here's the first:

I found a huge bag of shower curtain rings at he thrift store and thought they made cute wreath shapes best part was they came with mini gold hanger loops - so for these all I did was wrap pretty silky yarn around them and then added some sweet felt flowers I made. Now they could go on a gift along with a tag and then kept to add to their tree - great gift idea!

This next one I found on Pinterest and this is my version:

Once again I found a bunch of grapevine wreaths at a boutique and bought them to make "something"  with - so I found this cute image and did something's differently...used some lace and then hand wrote on the banner and fell totally in love with this cute ornament.

I'm all about the nativity and Baby Jesus this year as I was with Frida anyway I also made these larger ornaments or gifts as they could be a bit big to add to the tree but awesome none the less!!!

Corks are so easy to find - if you like wine that is!!! Wink wink - in case you are wondering I used some stiff wire to thread the corks and bells onto then twisted into a circle and added a burlap bow and hemp hanger and ta-da done and oh so sweet!!!

I am partial to all things handmade so I think anyone that receives a handmade ornament would be so delighted and you'd be their new best friend!!!! Lucky you....

Happy crafting...

In case you are in need of a you the ornaments found here head on over to my etsy shop and pick them up onecraftymess is my store name.

Quick and Easy

As you know and am sure it's the same for you - this past month has been beyond busy. With the holidays around the corner I have been trying to prepare for the upcoming hub bub that comes with the Season. Here's a quick idea:

I have been making lots of holiday paper bag albums and have scraps as I am sure if you are a paper crafter you have lots of bits laying around, anyway I took out my plethora of paper punches and started creating these cute little bits -

here are the supplies you need:

then use a sewing machine or perhaps use adhesive to layer your parts

Then just use a tape runner and add them to bags and then you have your very own personalized gift bag and present
wrapper.

Cuteness any way you look at it...and its hand made!!

what's not to LOVE.

LeftOvers

I wanted to share a few of the things I made that didn't sell but that I LOVE at my last show. I know I have mentioned before that I cant sew, I cant needle and thread sew either - maybe to add on a button but not much more. Anyway, I so love embroidery and all the new embroidery - you know the trendy stuff - so many fun floss colors and the designs are pretty cool well instead of envying there skills I decided to come up with a way to create my own FAUX version of embroidery--- here is my take...

Fall painted hoops:

Sweet right?

Sometimes I think I should add some black lines for accents but then remember that this is faux embroidery ART - not trying to replicate actual embroidery.

This is my favorite...

Take that back this is my favorite...I have a thing for feathers...and those cute felt flowers gah!!! LOVE it...

I will be adding these to my ebay shop tomorrow - In case you absolutely need one of these cute home dec accents.

I have more to share - so come by again tomorrow...

Day 13-back to my Challenge

Ok so seems a whole week has past and looks like I slacked but actually last Monday my uncle past away. It was shocking to say the least and then the way I found out was awful. He was my grandmother's caregiver & it's just me now so I had to pack and fly out to figure it all out. It was a long grueling, emotional week. But we got it taken care of. Things worked out in the end. I got home Friday night, and took the weekend to adjust and move kids into different rooms so we could get a "room" set up for grandma and now finally I'm back into the swing of things....

I opened up a new paper pack by We r Memory Keepers called Market Street and made the first of 2 albums... Here's the first one

The papers are super fun and colorful and I love the touches of gold. I kept it simple and inspirational and uplifting. Because I was feeling it.

Sorry for the interruption in the challenge but I'm back and ready to get busy. I usually post my up to date happenings and projects on Instagram so follow me over there @ #onecraftymess😊

Happy hump day!!!

Day 3 - going strong

Wow - while I can normally sit down and create 2-3 albums a day lately I seem to be creating only 1 a day. But I guess the presurre of making one a day is keeping me focused and diligent.

Not sure if you are into the new craze which is "Planners" oh my how fun it has been - I even have 2 of them. I write in them and organize my weeks all the while making them look amazing. I dont refer to them as I probably should but they sure do look pretty! Oh and the supplies available out there for said planners is ridiculous. Ok so Im totally off track. But you get the idea, right?

Ok so back to todays album - I created a small paper bag album that has that planner-ish style to it. I used the Archived line of papers by We R Memory Keepers and added a whole bunch of different embellishments to create this sweet motivational scrapbook just needs some photos added.

Let me know what you think...

See lots of fun places for you to add your notes and moments of that days events.

I love it....Yeah for me for keeping up with this challenge. Seee you tomorrow.

23 day challenge

'In an effort to make sure I am crazy stocked for my upcoming craft show, I have been busily creating everyday. But I am also so easily distracted that I can start something and walk away and start on something else. I do eventually get things finished but I am determined to stay on track.

I am known for my mini scrapbooks and usually sell out of the, rather quickly, so it is in my best interest to STOCK up. In order to do that I have decided to challenge myself to make at least 1 or more scrapbooks a day. I mean 24 more on top of all the ones I have already would keep me very stocked up for my next show! Not a bad idea right?

So here is my first album In this challenge; just finished tonight!

I love how it came out! Please follow along as I get this challenge completed!

Happy Crafting!
